John F. Slater, Jr. grew up in Baldwin-Whitehall, and currently lives in Bethel Park.  John is the son, grandson, great-grandson, and great-great-grandson of J. Fred Slater, Herbert W. Slater, John H. Slater, and William Slater, respectively.  After graduating from Baldwin High School in 1971, he graduated from the College of Wooster, Ohio in 1975, and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1976.  John married Paula (Crocker) in 1980, and they have three children, John, Andrew and Luke.

Jeffrey L. Maist, a Brentwood native, has been a Funeral Director with the John F. Slater Funeral Home since 1997.  Jeff is a 1989 graduate of Brentwood High School, earned a B.S. in Science from Point Park College in 1992, and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1993.  Jeff currently resides in Whitehall with his wife, Kelly (Schaming), and their three sons, J. Brady, Teagan and Spencer.

James E. Maksin attended Clairton High School, earned a B.S. in Mortuary Science from Point Park College in 1995 and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1996.  Jim has been a Funeral Director with Slater’s since 2003.  Jim, and his wife Amy (Gruber), currently live in Pleasant Hills with their daughter, Mia Rose and son, Nathan James.  Jim enjoys playing golf and belongs to the St. Sylvester Church Bowling League.

Jeffrey M. Stenglein, a life-long resident of Baldwin Borough, has been a Funeral Director with the John F. Slater Funeral Home since 2001.  After graduating from Baldwin High School in 1988, Jeff received an Associates Degree in Business Management from CCAC South in 1990, and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1995.  He recently retired from Baldwin Independent Fire Co. after 22 years of service, the last 12 as their President.

Christopher G. Ziegler, a life-long resident of Brentwood, graduated from Brentwood High School in 1991, earned a B.S. in Gerontology from California University of PA in 1995, and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in September 2005.  Chris, and his wife, Dawn (Owens), have four children, Alayna, CJ, and twins, Nathan and Joshua.  He enjoys sports, bowling in particular, and fatherhood.

David G. Williams has been a familiar face as a Funeral Director for over 35 years with the John F. Slater Funeral Home.  Dave is semi-retired and spends part of the year in Florida.  After graduating from Taylor Allderdice High School, he attended the University of Pittsburgh, and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1960.  Dave has been a long-time resident of Brentwood and currently resides in Whitehall; has three daughters, Christine Bablak, Susan Burik and Lynne Golvash, six grandchildren, and is a member of Spencer United Methodist Church.

Andrew Slater grew up in Bethel Park, graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2004, where he played hockey.  Andrew is the son, grandson, great-grandson, and great-great-grandson of John F. Slater, J. Fred Slater, Herbert W. Slater, John H. Slater, and William Slater, respectively.  He attended Duquesne University, earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 2008, and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 2009.  Andrew recently married his high school sweetheart, Kimberly (Firko).  They currently reside in Brentwood.
